Firefighters continue battling the Mora Fire near Kuna Butte after the wind-driven wildfire expanded to an estimated 2,426 acres as of 8:45 a.m. Monday.
The fire ignited at approximately 11:16 p.m. Sunday, July 5, and spread rapidly through dry grass and sagebrush on the hillsides near Kuna Butte. Strong winds fueled active fire behavior overnight, creating difficult conditions for firefighters working to slow the blaze and protect nearby properties.
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office temporarily issued evacuation notices for residents along Poen Road between Swan Falls Road and Cloverdale Road as the fire advanced. Those evacuation notices have since been lifted after crews were able to reduce the immediate threat to homes…
