NYC girl, 6, drowns at Long Island beach during holiday outing with family

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A 6-year-old girl from New York City drowned at a Long Island beach on the Fourth of July while on a holiday outing with her family, police said Monday.

According to Southampton Town police, the girl was swept from Sebonac Creek into Great Peconic Bay around 8 a.m. Saturday. Police received the 911 call from Sebonac Inlet Road in Southampton.
