NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire at the dunes in Norfolk’s East Ocean View neighborhood Saturday evening, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue.
Norfolk Fire crews responded to the brush fire near the intersection of Warwick Avenue and Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk on July 4. Upon arrival, crews found a fire smoldering in the dunes with people trying to spray water and use extinguishers to put it out. Residents at the scene told crews that the fire was started by fireworks.
The firefighters were able to extinguish the remaining fire. Park rangers were also available to assist with the investigation, according to Carrie Jones, spokesperson for Norfolk Fire-Rescue.
