LAFAYETTE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — More reports of harmful algal blooms resulted in the closure of Jamesville Beach this week.
According to Onondaga County Parks, as of Sunday, July 5, Jamesville Beach is closed for swimming until further notice. The county points to Oneida Shores Park, in Brewerton, as an alternative option in the meantime.
Water will be sampled to confirm there are no toxins before the beach is reopened. Several additional water bodies around Central New York received reports of harmful algal blooms (HABs) this summer, according to records from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
