Lubbock sees slight rise in 4th of July weekend calls, accidents

LUBBOCK, Texas — Calls for service, DWI arrests and accidents have remained consistent with previous years when it came to the 2026 Fourth of July weekend, according to a statement from Lubbock Police Department officials. However, some numbers, such as calls for service and total accidents, show a slight increase.

The city saw a slight uptick in calls for service for the Fourth of July weekend, increasing from 1,591 to 1,696. Data obtained from LPD also showed that firework-related calls increased from approximately 473 to 630 calls in the city of Lubbock.

Total accidents increased from 2025 numbers from 44 to 53. Alcohol related accidents saw a significant decrease, going from four accidents in 2025 to one in 2026…
