Typical July weather continues; heat builds this weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Typical July weather will continue through the upcoming work week with warm and humid conditions with some occasional thunderstorm chances.

High pressure over the region will keep the weather generally quiet into the day on Tuesday. Look for high temperatures ranging from the upper 80s to low 90s in eastern Nebraska to the mid to upper 90s across the western sections of the state.

Skies should be mostly to partly sunny across the state on Tuesday. Generally dry conditions are expected for most – though there is a chance for some isolated strong storms across the Panhandle and parts of western Nebraska into Tuesday evening.

The ridge of high pressure will begin to break down late Tuesday into Wednesday, which will open the door for moisture to return and storms to develop. Dew points will climb back into the low 70s, pushing heat indices into the mid-to-upper 90s by Wednesday as humidity increases.

Our best storm chances for Lincoln and eastern Nebraska will likely come Wednesday night into early Thursday and then again Thursday evening into early Friday as a stalled out boundary slides through the area. Some isolated strong to severe storms will be possible at times.

Temperatures look to cool back a few degrees for the second half of the week with temperatures generally in the middle 80s…
