ARDOT discusses importance of campaign in reducing litter on Arkansas highways

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The Arkansas Department of Transportation has made conscious efforts to reduce litter and debris on highways and interstates across the Natural State.

The latest effort comes in the form of an enforcement campaign, geared toward promoting education on waste transport and the safe, secure transport of waste products in the month of July.

“It’s about education, it’s about awareness, it’s about enforcement,” Arkansas Department of Transportation Media Communications Manager Ellen Coulter told KATV. “It’s not meant to be a ‘gotcha’ campaign; this is not a money-making campaign, a ticket-writing campaign, nothing like that. It’s really just about educating people what it means to cover your load properly, and it’s about enforcement. So, we want everyone to know that we are going to have law enforcement out there looking for this, and they will be writing warnings and citations.”…
