Bystanders save life at Memorial Park concert

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A man is recovering after collapsing in cardiac arrest at the Memorial Park concert two weeks ago, saved by a bystander, two Omaha police officers and a crowd of neighbors who cleared the way for emergency responders.

Officers Riley Williams and Norbert Pieper had been working the concert since 2 p.m. when, at 6:30 p.m. — just as the national anthem began — someone waved them over.

“All of the sudden we see somebody waving us over. We start moving towards it, and as we get closer,” Pieper said, “somebody says, ‘He’s down. He’s not breathing.’”

Civilian CPR, then officers stepped in
