Puyallup man accused of carrying rifle, bringing suspected pipe bomb to Fourth of July gathering

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A Puyallup man has been charged after police said neighbors reported he brought a rifle and what appeared to be a pipe bomb to a Fourth of July gathering, according to Pierce County court documents.

The man was charged Monday in Pierce County Superior Court with possession of an explosive device and unlawful carrying or handling of a weapon. Prosecutors said both charges stem from the same July 4 incident in Puyallup.

According to court documents, Puyallup police were called around 10:47 p.m. to a home on West Main after a neighbor reported a man had been carrying what was first described as an AK-47 and later showed up with what appeared to be a pipe bomb…
