SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Public Schools is expanding its summer meals program today by opening of several new locations, bringing the total number of sites to 34 across the district. The expansion aims to reach more families during the critical summer months when school-provided meals are no longer available.
Last year, the program distributed approximately 50,000 meals over an eight-week period, according to the district. The initiative is federally funded and targets low-income families to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals during the extended school break.
