LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — In light of recent online hate, local community members have been banding together, using their platforms to support one another following the death of 7-year-old Harbe Nagi in Menands.

If you’ve been online the last few days, chances are you’ve seen some videos spreading awareness about Muslim-owned businesses in the 518. This comes after recent online hate came about last week. Social media influencers such as Dominick Colello, Zakkai Perrin and Jackie Silvestri-Edwards are just some of the creators who have been sharing messages of support.
“I’m doing my best to highlight locally owned Muslim businesses in the Capital Region,” said Dominick Colello in one of his most recent videos. Colello runs @DomCReviews on social media, with over 23,000 followers on TikTok.
“Although all local businesses in the Capital Region deserve their spotlight, I just think in a time like now, where our Muslim friends and family and even followers, have to second guess the intentions and feelings of their neighbors, it’s important for myself and anyone with a large platform to standup and show their support,” said Colello.

In response, Colello has started a new series, highlighting different local Muslim-owned restaurants in the Capital Region. His first stop last week was Tara Kitchen in Troy. Next, he tried Naan Kebab…
