Kalamazoo’s Arcadia Creek Festival Place revamp timeline: ‘We need the fence to come down’

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Some residents in Kalamazoo are calling on their city leaders to remove fencing that has been blocking public access to Arcadia Creek Festival Place since late last year, arguing that it represents a broken pledge to the community.

The fencing, which wraps around the entire downtown site, was installed in December 2025 in anticipation of a several million-dollar renovation project.
