SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Paul Pelosi is facing hit-and-run allegations after a crash in Napa County, bringing renewed attention to a driving record that stretches back decades. The 86-year-old businessman has previously been involved in serious collisions, including one in his teens that killed his brother.
2022 Napa County DUI case ended with jail time and probation
Pelosi was arrested after a May 2022 crash in Napa County, when he was driving home from a dinner in Oakville and hit a Jeep on State Route 29.
Authorities said his blood alcohol content measured 0.082%. He later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI offense involving injury and was sentenced in August 2022 to five days in jail, three years of probation, DUI classes, and $6,800 in fines and restitution.
Teenage crash near San Mateo killed his older brother in 1957
Long before the Napa case, Pelosi was involved in a deadly wreck in 1957, when he was 16 and driving near San Mateo south of San Francisco.
According to reports from the time, the car flipped during an early-morning joyride and landed upside down. His brother David, 19, was killed in the crash. Pelosi was initially cited in connection with the fatal incident, but a coroner’s jury later cleared him.
Two minor traffic citations were also issued in 2011
