New Orleans tax preparer arrested, accused of fraud

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A New Orleans woman was arrested after being accused of tax fraud.

According to the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR), Jasmine Iriel Dumas, 32, is accused of filing state income tax returns using false tax information to increase refunds owed to her clients.

Investigators flagged a suspicious return that contained a W-2 form for 2022, which was a year in which the client was not employed. The client told investigators that he had never worked for the company in question and did not provide Dumas with the alleged information…
