Drowning rates rising since 2020; Wichita program teaches infants to self rescue in water

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Drowning is the number one cause of death for one to five year olds. That is why its important to get swim or Infant Swimming Resource lessons before making a splash.

“ISR is a program that teaches kids, if they fall into the water, to self rescue,” says Tara Murphy, an ISR instructor.

It teaches kids as young as six months old to flip onto their backs, allowing them to float until help arrives…
