Strong Hearts Buffalo, the vegan cafe on Niagara Street, announced that it’s closing for good. The Strong Hearts Buffalo closing means we’re losing one of WNY’s most loved plant based spots. If you ordered the Buffalo Mac N Cheese on repeat, you’re not the only one taking this hard.
Strong Hearts opened in Buffalo back in 2022, bringing its menu south from its original Syracuse location. In just four years it became one of the city’s go to spots for vegan comfort food. The Vegan Wings had a cult following, the Buffalo Mac N Cheese converted plenty of skeptics, and the Sweet Sassy Molassy Sandwich was the kind of order regulars built their whole visit around.
Owners Joel Capolongo and Nick Ryan shared the news on social media, pointing to rising costs and the day to day grind of running an independent restaurant. They were honest that the decision took a personal toll too, and they thanked their staff and customers for the support shown across nearly two decades between both locations.

The original Strong Hearts location in Syracuse, open since 2008, is closing too. Its last day is set for Saturday, July 18th…
