CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 21-year-old man was arrested after deputies told residents in a neighborhood near Ravenna to shelter in place.
It started around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, when the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was called to Sherman Boulevard west of Behler Road in Chester Township for a report of domestic assault where a man reportedly had a long gun and a shot had been fired. Deputies were told that two women and a baby were sheltering inside a house and the armed man may have been in there as well.
Deputies from Ottawa County and Muskegon County as well as Michigan State Police and fire agencies responded to the scene. Eventually, after 6 p.m., members of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office’s Critical Response Team contacted the women and child, who were safely evacuated. They were hurt but the injuries are not life-threatening, deputies said…
