MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WPIX) – The old Pfizer building being converted into a residential development, which is now considered unstable after floors caved in on Tuesday, has a history of violations, according to building records.
The building at 235 East 42nd St., as well as a wide-ranging area surrounding it, was evacuated Tuesday after columns inside the construction site began to buckle, causing floors 21-26 to cave in, officials and witnesses said. The building has continued to shift since the evacuation.
