IOWA CITY, Iowa — Thousands of fans packed into Kinnick Stadium Friday night hoping to see the Savannah Bananas, but severe weather delayed the sold-out game and left many attendees waiting outside or inside the concourse at Kinnick Stadium as storms moved through the area.
The weather also affected several other major events across Johnson County. The Big & Rich concert in Coralville was canceled because of the weather, while Friday evening events at the Iowa City Jazz Festival were also canceled after storms arrived. The Savannah Bananas game, however, was delayed rather than canceled.
