NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Initial work has begun to demolish the former Lindy Boggs Medical Center, a long-blighted property in Mid-City that some residents still refer to as Mercy.
Workers have begun removing steel coverings from the building as the first steps of the demolition process get underway. Jeff Schwartz, deputy mayor of economic development for the City of New Orleans, said the full demolition will take six to eight months, with portions of the building potentially coming down this month.
