Longmont police field over 350 fireworks-related calls, issue 0 citations over Fourth of July week

Fireworks lit up the Longmont skyline this Fourth of July weekend, and many did not come from the city’s professional display, instead taking flight from neighborhoods and other areas of the city.

Longmont police fielded 353 fireworks-related calls over the holiday week — from June 28 through Sunday — according to Robin Ericson, a city spokesperson.

Of those calls, police gave 33 warnings and did not issue any citations. In 224 cases, dispatchers aired the call to officers on duty, who may have responded if they were available, Ericson said. Officers gave general assistance in 13 other calls…
