MARION COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team is actively searching for 68-year-old John Nelson, who was reported overdue after a camping trip in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness near Russell Lake.
A family friend reported Nelson overdue shortly after noon on July 7, according to the sheriff’s office. He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, about 200 pounds, and was last seen wearing a light blue jacket, jeans, and carrying a light blue day pack.
Officials are asking anyone who has been in the area in recent days to think back and contact dispatch if they saw Nelson or noticed anything that could help search teams. Authorities say even small details — such as seeing someone on the trail or noticing a campsite — could help guide search efforts.
Anyone who was near Russell Lake, the Whitewater Trailhead, or along the Pacific Crest Trail between Breitenbush Lake and Pamelia Lake is asked to contact the Marion County Dispatch Center immediately at 503-588-5032…
