ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The state and federal governments settled their dispute over the Don Young Port of Alaska, a central port for Alaska commerce, state leaders and U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced at the port Tuesday.
The announcement is the seeming conclusion to the more than a decade-long legal dispute between Anchorage and the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration.
“Every single dollar of this funding will go directly toward construction costs for the Port of Alaska modernization program,” Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance said. “This is a massive victory and it comes at a moment of tremendous progress.”…
