Ordinance to cap occupancy in new bars returns to Myrtle Beach Planning Commission

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A proposal to limit occupancy for future bars on Ocean Boulevard was back in front of the city’s planning commission on Tuesday.

The commission revisited the proposed ordinance, which would cap the maximum occupancy of future bars along Ocean Boulevard at 150 people.

The proposal, originally brought to the commission by Myrtle Beach City Council earlier this year, was initiated as a safety concern after police raised alarms about what could happen if large numbers of people were suddenly downtown following last call…
