Beloved Texas restaurant closes after nearly 50 years as owner prepares to retire

An iconic Austin restaurant recently served its final meals, bringing an end to a nearly five-decade chapter in the city’s culinary history. Hoover’s Cooking, a longtime destination for Southern comfort food, closed in late May as founder Hoover Alexander retired from the restaurant business.
