EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso said it will “continue advocating for strong protections for local ratepayers” as a hearing begins this week in El Paso Electric’s application for the proposed McCloud Generation facility.
The proposed McCloud Generation facility is intended to serve the Wurldwide (Meta) data center during its first several years of operation before potentially becoming part of El Paso Electric’s broader electric system, the City said.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, July 8-9 before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, where the parties will present evidence and testimony regarding El Paso Electric’s application for a “certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN)” for the proposed natural gas generation facility, the City said.
