MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) — The Henry Vilas Zoo has launched a new nonprofit organization aimed at securing private donations to support the zoo’s future growth while keeping admission free.
The Henry Vilas Zoo Foundation will work alongside the zoo to raise charitable funds for special projects, according to zoo officials.
‘Edge of Africa’ exhibit planned
The foundation’s first major project is a new exhibit called “Edge of Africa,” which will expand habitats for the zoo’s giraffes.
“This project will transform our space, elevate our animal care, and create unforgettable experimental education,” said Janine Wachter, Henry Vilas Zoo interim director. “We are in striking distance and this foundation is the vehicle that will help take us across this finish line.”…
