Springfield schools enter final stretch of Prop S construction, two new middle schools open this fall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield Public Schools is entering one of the final major stretches of construction funded by Proposition S, the bond measure voters approved in 2023 to pay for school construction, safety upgrades and storm shelters across the district.

“We’ve actually been able to do more projects than we were able to promise back in April of 2023,” Hall said.

SPS said most Prop S projects are now either finished or underway. That includes safety and security upgrades across more than 50 district facilities and six storm-shelter gymnasiums at elementary schools.
