BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has approved a plan from SeaWorld to save 30 remaining beluga whales from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario, SeaWorld announced Wednesday.
The whales had remained at Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario, which closed to the public in 2024. Marineland previously announced that it was for sale in early 2023.
