Charleston man arrested after traffic stop near Budget Inn, drugs seized

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A Charleston man was arrested Tuesday evening after a traffic stop conducted by the North Charleston Police Department during a proactive narcotics patrol near the Budget Inn on Fain Street.

Police charged 64-year-old Rodney Fitzgerald Frazier with possession of cocaine base and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

Officers said they were patrolling the area shortly after 6 p.m. in response to reports of drug activity when they saw a vehicle pull into the hotel parking lot and leave five minutes later. Police said they stopped the vehicle after the driver made an improper lane change and an improper turn onto Aviation Avenue.

Officers reported the vehicle’s occupants appeared nervous during the stop. Police said the driver had multiple out-of-state warrants related to property and drug offenses and was on probation in Florida…
