FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Over 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized after Fresno Police and Fresno Fire responded to nearly 1,700 calls for service over the Fourth of July weekend.
From July 3 to July 5, Fresno Police says their officers responded to nearly 1,700 calls. Of those, 491 related to fireworks activity, including illegal fireworks. On the Fourth of July alone, Fresno Fire reported 328 calls, 203 of which were fire-related.

Officers specifically responded to 35 firework-related calls, helped issue 29 citations for illegal fireworks possession or use, and helped secure over 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, according to Fresno Police.
Officers also made 43 felony and misdemeanor arrests and seized three firearms while patrolling areas where illegal fireworks were being used; however, police say a majority of the arrests were unrelated to fireworks…
