GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – A new South Carolina law brings a range of changes to how the state plans, builds and manages its transportation system, including opening the door for future optional toll lanes on some of the state’s busiest highways.
The Transportation Modernization Act, signed into law in May, gives the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) new authority aimed at speeding up road projects by reducing administrative delays.
“It helps us to reduce and cut that red tape where we have to get approval from various other partners or other entities,” said SCDOT spokesperson Jennifer Timmons.
