Michigan state budget targets return-to-office for state workers

LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – Michigan state lawmakers are pushing to bring state workers back to the office as part of the new state budget, ending years of widespread remote work that took hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.

House Speaker Matt Hall said occupancy in state office buildings has dropped significantly since the shift to remote work.

“It’s probably less than 25% of the workers are coming into work, so these buildings are empty,” Hall said.
