LMPD, community leaders discuss police response to mental health crisis calls

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A community forum in Louisville is asking a tough question: “When someone is in a mental health crisis, is there a better way than sending the police?”

The forum comes after two recent LMPD officer-involved shootings involving people reportedly experiencing mental health emergencies. The discussion featured people from the Urban League, LMPD and Seven Counties Services, a mental health center in Louisville.
