Dennis Atiles stood outside Sacramento’s newest safe camping site hoping it would become the first place in more than a year where he could sleep without worrying someone would steal everything he owned.
The 72-year-old, who has been unhoused for about a year and a half, said safety has been hard to come by on Sacramento’s streets.
“I’ve been robbed seven times,” Atiles said. “Everything I own has been stolen from me.”…
