According to a Sig Alert from California Highway Patrol, reports of a roadside brush fire began coming in around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses reported smoke rising from the west side of the freeway, with one caller reporting that someone appeared to be attempting to put out the flames using a fire extinguisher.
