TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County Humane Society warned local pet owners Tuesday about a resurfacing scam that attempts to obtain money from owners for emergency veterinary care for their pets.
In a social media post Tuesday afternoon, the humane society shared that they had been alarmed earlier that morning to learn that someone was using their number to try to get money transferred via Venmo, Zelle, or another online payment system for emergency pet care.
“We are noticing an uptick in this scam happening again and are heartbroken for what the scammers are putting distraught pet owners through,” the animal shelter said…
