Temperatures so far this week have been sitting around our seasonal average, but that will come to an end Thursday and Friday. A heat advisory will be in effect for Dare, Tyrrell, Washington, Hyde, Beaufort, Pamlico, Craven, Carteret, Jones, Onslow, Duplin, Lenoir, Greene, and Wayne counties until 8 p.m. An extreme heat warning will be in effect for Pender County. Highs will climb to the mid 90s with humidity making us feel like we’re between 100°-105°. The chance for afternoon showers will be reduced from what we saw earlier in the week with only a few isolated storms popping up. Most areas will stay dry both Thursday and Friday afternoons.
The weekend will start hot Saturday morning with air temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Highs will reach the low 90s before showers and storms spread across the East. A few scattered thunderstorms will dot the radar in the afternoon. A stronger cold front will roll in late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The front will stall near the coast Sunday morning, keeping rain in the forecast for the afternoon and evening. Highs will drop from the low to mid 90s Saturday to the low to mid 80s Sunday.
Showers and storms will linger near the coast on Monday and Tuesday before we dry out and heat back up again by Wednesday and Thursday of next week…
