Lubbock teen charged with Aggravated Assault after beating victim with rock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Grant Smith,18, was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon after beating a victim with a rock.

Police received a radio call to the block at 5600 48th Street, to an apartment, regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer saw the woman outside crying and bleeding from the back of her head.

The victim advised that Smith called her to come home but refused to let her in once she got home. The victim believed another female was in the apartment. The victim then stated that Smith finally let her into the apartment and Smith dragged her back out of the apartment by her hair and struck her twice with a rock, one of which had cut the back of her head and led to bleeding.

    Smith then struck the victim three to four times with a closed fist. Smith returned into the apartment and the victim threw the rock through the window, causing damage. Smith opened the door again and the victim advised that she somehow ended up on the couch with Smith’s hand closing pressure around her throat to a degree that she could not breathe.

    Smith was observed to have cuts and bruises on both hands. Smith advised that the victim was pulling his hair multiple times and he did strike the victim. He stated he did not hit the victim with the rock but that it flew out of his hand and struck the victim…
