Complaint: Victim of Madison Fourth of July shooting says he tried to stop drunk driving

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The victim of a Fourth of July shooting on Madison’s southwest side said he was trying to prevent people from driving drunk before he was shot, a criminal complaint filed Wednesday states.

Brian Woods, 19, is accused of first-degree reckless injury.

Woods appeared in Dane County Court on Wednesday for his initial appearance, where a court commissioner set his bond at $1,000. If he posts bond, he would not be allowed to have any type of weapon or ammunition.

The shooting was reported just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, on the 3000 block of Tucson Trail, according to the criminal complaint…
