New Sioux Falls’ program helps people communicate with law enforcement

There’s a new way for people to communicate with law enforcement who stop them in traffic or on the street as a pedestrian.

It’s the blue envelope program, launching July 8 in Sioux Falls as part of a partnership between disability advocates, community organizations and law enforcement.

Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputy Spencer Kommes said he heard about the program at a recent Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run International Conference, and thought it would be a great program to implement in Minnehaha County…
