SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Lane County families who need a properly fitting life jacket for their children will have a chance to get one at a free exchange event in Springfield on Friday, July 10.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said the Springfield Elks Lodge has purchased life jackets “to help every child in Lane County have access to the right size life jacket.”
Families are asked to bring their child and an outgrown, lightly used life jacket to exchange for a properly fitting one. Organizers will check jackets for “form, fit, and function,” and exchanged life jackets will be inspected for safety before being handed back out to other children.
