WALDORF, Md. — A proposed amendment to the Waldorf Station development agreement moved forward after the Charles County Planning Commission recommended allowing more residential units in the project’s first stage, while keeping the overall development cap unchanged.
The Planning Commission voted unanimously during its June 15 meeting to recommend approval of the Waldorf Station Development Agreement amendment, finding it consistent with the county’s Comprehensive Plan. The recommendation now moves to the Charles County Commissioners for further review.
Waldorf Station is an approved mixed-use, transit-oriented development in the Waldorf Development District. The project was originally approved in 2020 and amended in 2022, with authorization for up to 798 residential units and about 453,000 square feet of commercial development on roughly 143 acres.
The requested amendment would increase the Stage 1 residential cap from 545 units to a maximum of 615 units. The increase would only be permitted if at least 70 of the additional Stage 1 units are built as stacked townhouses, also known as “two-over-two” units…
