CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The heat wave is having a major impact on the tourism industry in downtown Charleston.
The City of Charleston is taking preventative action by cancelling the West Ashley farmers market this Wednesday to keep people out of the heat. City officials say they will continue to monitor conditions before making a decision about Saturday’s farmers market.
Some other activities are also on pause amid the heat warning. The City of Charleston requires horse-drawn carriage tours to stop service when the air temperatures reach 95 degrees or the heat index reaches above 110.
