LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – Michigan State Police are warning the public about a common phone scam in which callers falsely claim to be law enforcement officers.
Police said scammers are posing as sergeants, detectives or other officers and telling people there is a warrant out for their arrest.
The callers then instruct victims not to hang up or contact anyone else. They claim the only way to avoid arrest is to purchase gift cards from a local grocery store and provide the card information…
