Summer storms again on Thursday with heavy downpours

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi will stay locked into a typical July weather pattern through the end of the workweek. Expect hot, humid afternoons with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms developing each day, mainly during the afternoon and evening. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, a few stronger storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and pockets of heavy rainfall.

High temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 90s each afternoon, while overnight lows remain in the upper 70s. Heat index values should stay just below Heat Advisory criteria for most locations, but it will still feel oppressive during the hottest part of the day. If you’re spending time outdoors, stay hydrated and take frequent breaks.
