SEVERANCE, COLORADO, residents are mourning the loss of 20-year-old Emma Crackel, who died in a car accident early Sunday morning while driving home from her overnight work shift.
A Life Cut Short
Emma was the daughter of Heather and Eric Crackel and the sister of Claire. Family and friends describe her as ambitious, hardworking and selfless, someone who had a gift for making people feel seen and valued.
Those who knew her say her joy was contagious and her kindness left a mark on everyone she met. Friends have flooded social media with tributes, recalling her bright smile, her fearless personality, and her passion for agriculture.
One childhood friend recalled meeting Emma on the school bus during their first day of high school, when Emma sat down beside her and introduced herself with an instant warmth that turned into a lasting friendship. Others wrote that Emma was the first person to show them kindness, and that her absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled. Many said they are struggling to accept that she is gone, while finding comfort in the belief that she is now at peace.
Community Rallies to Support Grieving Family
In the days following Emma’s death, family friend Bonnie Glade of Windsor, Colorado, started a GoFundMe campaign titled “Remembering Emma’s Kindness and Joy” to help Heather and Eric Crackel cover funeral and memorial expenses. The fundraiser states that no parent should ever have to bury their child and asks the community to help ease the financial burden so the family can focus on grieving and remembering their daughter rather than worrying about unexpected costs…
