Charlottesville man to sue city over Free Bridge encampment enforcement

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A Charlottesville man mailed a two-page lawsuit Thursday to Virginia’s Supreme Court, accusing the city of failing to enforce trespassing laws at the Free Bridge encampment.

Timothy Santiago filed the suit seeking immediate action against the estimated 80 people living at the encampment. He argues that by not charging them with trespassing, the city is selectively enforcing state laws and city code.
