PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A weak cold front is working its way across the Piedmont later today, but its late arrival means another day of heat and humidity. Today’s highs are headed into the lower-90s again with a heat index between 95 and 97 degrees. The chance of rain is 20%, indicating only isolated showers or perhaps a thunderstorm later this afternoon.
We will have partly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the lower-70s.
Friday stays hot and humid, with highs in the lower-90s. Rain chances begin to ramp up for the weekend as a cold front dives southward through the Carolinas. We will have a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, then 60% on Saturday, and 80% on Sunday. Total rainfall is looking less impressive, however, totaling 0.80″ to 1.0″. Highs over the weekend will steadily cool down to 88 degrees on Saturday, then 83 degrees on Sunday.
