LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A nonprofit born out of tragedy is helping teen boys stay off the streets and build self-worth.
Rose Smith started The ACE Project after her own son, Cory Michael Crowe, was shot and killed inside a car at 25th and Standard Avenue in 2014. Smith knew she couldn’t let her son’s death be in vain, which is why she’s trying to make a difference in the lives of young men all across Louisville.
During the summer of 2025, The ACE Project’s Men in the Making program opened a woodshop in the Portland neighborhood. The purpose behind the space is to give young men a chance to learn skills in woodworking and painting, among other things…
